Final Cut's Carlos Arias Tems Up with Tom Kuntz for New Videos for Bumblebeez and LCD Soundsystem

Final Cut's Carlos Arias Tems Up with Tom Kuntz for New Videos for Bumblebeez and LCD Soundsystem

Los Angeles (June 1, 2007) -- Final Cut Editor Carlos Arias recently completed two vastly different videos for Aussie hip-hop/rockers Bumblebeez, and disco-punk revivalists LCD Soundsystem. The videos mark another successful collaboration with MJZ Director Tom Kuntz with whom Arias has had a long-term friendship.

"Carlos is by far the best looking editor working today," says Kuntz. "When the chance to work with him on these videos arose, I had to take it."

"Dr. Love" by Bumblebeez is an eccentric video with a post-apocalyptic theme, oddly beautiful street visuals, and choreographed dance moves. Shot in downtown LA, the clip features a rag-tag group of hooligans who adorn themselves with jewelry drawn directly on their skin via magic marker. "Dr. Love" climaxes with a group dance number atop the roof of an iconic Los Angeles skyscraper.

"All My Friends" for LCD Soundsystem is conversely a one-take performance video in which LCD frontman James Murphy is subject to elaborate visual, atmospheric and lighting changes, all of which are achieved in-camera. As Murphy--donning silvery, glam-inspired face paint--sings the opening lyrics, the camera pulls back subtly revealing his band mates as they appear behind him in an enchantingly mirrored kaleidoscopic view. The video coalesces with a rain shower, exploding fireworks, flashing lights, lens flares, and a cameo by a mysterious shoulder-dwelling lizard.

For Carlos Arias, the two videos were complete opposites from an editorial standpoint. "Dr. Love" was labor-intensive with its rhythmic and conceptual style while "All My Friends" involved nothing more than choosing a take and its in-and-out-points.

"These videos were done on instinct and trust," says Arias. "I've known Tom [Kuntz] since I was an apprentice, and we've worked together on some great projects over the years. The best part of this process is that it never feels like work with him. We always have fun."
